Role overview

A contractor or building operator requires plumbing technicians for both installation and maintenance work. You will be trusted to find the cause of a fault, not only to replace parts. AED 1,800 to 3,200 a month, indicative.

Key responsibilities

  • Install water supply and drainage systems in PPR (polypropylene), uPVC and CPVC pipe
  • Diagnose causes of low water pressure, air locks and recurring leaks
  • Trace blockages in drain lines and decide how to clear them
  • Check and adjust pressure-reducing valves, float valves and isolation valves
  • Inspect small pumps and report abnormal noise, vibration or leakage
  • Replace faulty valves, traps, cistern parts and flexible hoses
  • Read plumbing drawings to check what was installed against what was designed
  • Carry out pressure tests and record the result
  • Advise the supervisor on repairs that need more time or materials
  • Write short job reports with parts used and time taken

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of plumbing experience in installation and maintenance
  • ITI Plumber, diploma or an equivalent trade certificate is preferred
  • Able to read plumbing layouts and simple schematics
  • Practical use of pipe tools, pressure-test pumps and drain machines
  • Basic English or Hindi to follow instructions
  • Valid passport
  • Medically fit for overseas employment

Preferred skills

  • Fault finding
  • Pressure testing
  • Valve repair
  • Drain clearing
  • Hot water systems
  • Drawing reading
  • Job reports
  • Helper guidance

About the work

You will install new plumbing work and also respond when systems misbehave: low pressure, noisy pumps, slow drains or hot water that never gets hot. You decide what is wrong, explain it to the supervisor and fix it. The employer expects sound technical judgement, accurate reports and safe work.

Ideal candidate

You think before you cut pipe. You have been the person colleagues call when a system will not behave, and you can explain the fault in plain words.
