Role overview

A MIG Welder is required for a fabrication workshop that builds steel frames, panels, equipment bodies and sub-assemblies in repeat batches. The work is indoors, to a daily output target, using MIG (metal inert gas, also called GMAW) and flux-cored (FCAW) welding. AED 1,500 to 2,800 a month, indicative.

Key responsibilities

  • Weld carbon steel and mild steel sub-assemblies using semi-automatic MIG equipment
  • Weld thin sheet-metal sections without burn-through or heavy distortion
  • Use flux-cored wire where the job calls for deeper penetration or outdoor work
  • Set voltage, wire feed speed and gas flow for each wire diameter and plate thickness
  • Meet the daily or hourly output target for each batch
  • Clamp parts in jigs and fixtures so repeat parts come out to the same size
  • Tack and weld frames, brackets, platforms and equipment bodies from drawings
  • Change wire spools, contact tips, nozzles and liners during the shift
  • Remove spatter and grind weld faces to the finish the drawing asks for
  • Check your own welds for porosity, undercut and missing fill before passing parts on

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of MIG (GMAW) welding experience in a production or fabrication shop
  • ITI Welder or an equivalent trade certificate is preferred. Previous welder qualification test records are an advantage
  • Able to weld mild steel plate and sheet in flat, horizontal and vertical positions
  • Able to read a basic fabrication drawing and a welding symbol
  • You will sit a practical welding test in the process and position the employer needs before final selection
  • Hot work safety awareness: permits, fire watch and fume control where the site needs them
  • Basic English or Hindi to follow instructions
  • Valid passport
  • Medically fit for overseas employment

Preferred skills

  • MIG welding
  • Flux-cored welding
  • Sheet-metal welding
  • Jig and fixture use
  • Cycle-time work
  • Visual weld checks
  • Grinding and finishing
  • Drawing reading
  • Gas cylinder handling

About the work

You weld repeat parts to a cycle time, so speed has to come with consistent bead quality. Most of your day is spent at a welding bench or jig, running semi-automatic MIG sets on mild steel and thin sheet. The employer expects steady output, low rework and tidy handling of wire, gas and parts. You will work from a cutting list and a drawing, and you will report defects to the shop supervisor.

Ideal candidate

You are a welder who is comfortable with repetitive production work and takes pride in a clean, consistent bead. You can keep pace with a target without letting quality slip. You follow shop safety rules and keep your station in order.
